Plastic Bag Upcycling Project

At multiple locations, including two local Krogers (3305 Dallas Pkwy & 3939 Frankford Rd) and one Tom Thumb (4625 Frankford Rd), customers and a few Ecosysteens generously donated plastic bags. Eight Ecosysteens (5 volunteers + 3 officers) then worked collaboratively to fuse the bags with an iron and layer them with staples, crafting 50 reusable totes from 200 plastic bags. Check out our second Instagram Reel for a detailed explanation! The initiative aimed to repurpose plastic bags, which often pollute the environment, into eco-friendly alternatives. The event ran from July 9, 2023, to July 25, 2023, for donations, and the tote-making event was carried out on July 31, 2023. With community support, Ecosysteens continues its mission to foster sustainability and reduce plastic waste, creating a positive impact on the environment.
